Abstract We discuss the interaction of strongly nonlinear fluid motion induced by collapse a vapor microbubble over planar surface and elastic dynamics underlying solid. The is described using an extension Navier-Stokes equations endowed with distributed capillary stresses in context diffuse interface approach. bubble triggered overpressure liquid leads to intense jet that pierces bubble, changing topology from spheroidal toroidal, impinges solid wall inducing localized load. Moreover, at collapse, compression wave launched into surrounding bubble. By propagating along surface, combined excites solid, producing complex system waves, including, longitudinal, transversal, Rayleigh It conjectured deformation may lead plastic pitting observed many applications subject cavitation-induced material damage.
